What’s better than flowers on International Women’s Day?
In short, a lot.
That’s what I talk about in my episode.
We’d like to believe that we’re all on the march towards gender equality and ending gender-based violence – and in a way, we are – but its setbacks are obvious and horrifying.
They’re about women’s rights to their bodies, to making their own choices, and to making those choices without fear for their safety.
On Pride Day – and Pride Month – let’s not forget that no society is truly great if it is not equally accepting and great to everyone. The LGBTQ rights situation around the world might be improving but there’s still a long way to go.
What is the current paradigm when it comes to who is allowed to represent whom? What is the role that the concept of a myth plays here?
And why do we have to talk about political representation in the first place?
On International Women’s Day or any other day, these are important questions to ask — and to take action.
