Israel might be right here, you know.
It has a lot to defend from Iran.
Many of us woke up – or went to bed – to the news that years ago would have sounded like the beginning of the Third World War (these days, many regions seem like that war already). Israel has struck multiple targets in Iran, escalating its previous attacks to an even more alarming level.
Or, as many of our national broadcasters will present it: Israel is responding to that existential threat we’ve been hearing about. The strikes are pre-emptive, you see. They are needed. They are justifiable – they can be explained: rationally, calmly, appealing to our shared values and the need to protect our Western Civilisation. The word “civilised” will likely be used here.
But this is where we have to admit that Israel might be right here.
The threat is real.
And there is a lot to protect:
If you want to protect your domination, you will kill, attack, bomb, and destroy anyone and everything that’s in your way.
If you want to protect your genocide, you will kill, kidnap, deport, smear, and destroy anyone and everything that might impede your mass murder.
If you want to prevent a nuclear deal from being signed, you will kill, attack, bomb, destroy, provoke, and sabotage everything that could potentially lead to it.
So yes, the threats to Israel’s domination and its plans to implement its final solution for Gaza are real.
As a global movement, we have to be that threat, increasingly powerful, too.
And we have to continue rejecting militarism, more loudly than ever, and notions that countries with horrible leaders suddenly deserve to be bombed — especially when bombed by genocidal states pretending to care for anyone’s human rights record.
As always: stay strong, check on others, and keep your heart open.

How Fascist Regimes See Growing up, Standing up for People, and Writing Poems as Threats
Hind Rajab was killed by Israeli forces two years ago today – and that is one of the threads of history that I talk about in my essay-like video. It’s about fascism, its victims, the heaviness of witnessing these horrors, and how we can move forward.
On U.S. State Violence: A Continuation, Not a Rupture
The recent murder of Alex Pretti by ICE agents is one painfully clear indication – or, rather, a reminder – that in the U.S, the violence abroad has come back as fascism at home.
After Having Enabled It for Decades, The EU Is Appalled by U.S. Imperialism — Only When It Threatens Its Shores
After having enabled U.S. and Israeli military aggression around the world, notice the EU appeal to international law when the territorial integrity of Denmark is threatened by the U.S.
