Palestine has reminded us what long-time anti-war activists have known for decades: that we have nothing without collective action.
Through, by, and because of the people: how much more obvious can it be that this is always how change happens.
Maybe we’re just not used to being in the middle (in the movement) of it.
Here’s my quick video – and a podcast episode below – on it. It’s surely a reminder I’ve been needing and, who knows, maybe you, too.
I recorded it in Tunis, where I am at the moment, and where every day I see Palestinian flags, kuffyes, and other reminders of Tunisia’s (historic) support for the people of Palestine. It’s also from where the Global Sumud Flotilla started its journey.
A reminder of what that beautiful beautiful historic collective action looks like:
Talking about collective action initiated by small but mighty groups of people, realising no-one else will do the work needed for them, I invite you to follow two organisations.
Legacies of War: among other activities, they advocate for funds to demine and remove unexploded ordnance (UXOs) in Laos, something left after a devastating U.S. secret, illegal, and brutal bombing campaign in the 60s and 70s.
Project Libertad: they support migrant children and youth in the U.S.; that support is needed even more as we’re seeing a rise of fascism in the U.S. and kidnappings of people off the streets by ICE agents. Here is my quick video on their work.
Also, please follow TV Indígena for their coverage of what’s happening in Panamá and Ecuador, two examples I mention in my video.
To stand with indigenous communities in Panamá suffering under state oppression at the moment, please consider donating to this emergency fundraiser by Health In Harmony, an organisation I used to work for and stand by its anti-colonial principle.
As always: stay strong, check on others, and keep your heart open.

On One of The Gravest Crimes against Humanity That Not Every Country Chose to Condemn at The UN
The UN just voted to describe the transatlantic slave trade as ‘the gravest crime against humanity’. Yet not every country, according to its vote, agrees. My commentary is on what the abstentions show.
Your Antiwar Voice Is Needed More Than You Might Think
The war machine won’t stop until it’s stopped, just as its propaganda won’t just disappear on its own. It was to be actively pointed to, deconstructed, and rejected as loudly as possible. And this is where everyone’s voice matters.
Good News: We Are on a Boat Ride Together; Bad News: It’s Being Steered by Psychopaths
We’re on a boat steered by psychopaths — and they’re not taking us anywhere nice. As the U.S. and Israel are destroying Lebanon and Iran, one thing can’t be clearer: it is the whole world that has to make them stop.
