What’s a rogue state?
And if we use this concept to describe Israel, why would that matter?
US-backed Israeli forces just committed yet another massacre in Rafah.
On Sunday, May 26, 2024, with one’s bombs and one’s military, they were burning displaced families alive in an area previously designated as a ‘safe zone’ by Israel.
The images from Sunday night will haunt us forever.
It is clear that Israel won’t just stop on its own. It has proven time and time again its contempt for international law and any institution that attempts to break its decades-long impunity.
My question is, what are our elected leaders waiting for, pretending not to have any power?
At the intersection of statements made by ICC’s prosecutor Karim Khan and its team, and a recent ruling by the International Court of Justice (the highest court in the world), ordering Israel to halt its operation in Rafah, what I couldn’t help but see was the concept of a rogue state.
So it was high time I talked about it on my podcast.
What is a rogue state?
How is it defined?
Why does it apply to Israel?
And what does it actually mean on the ground?
It’s all in my episode. That and a healthy amount of rage that I’m encouraging you, too, to let out in healthy ways.

On The Global Sumud Flotilla, What The World with Israel in It Looks Like, And What It Does to Our Nervous Systems
To exist in the world where Israel, too, exists – to physically be and function in such a world – is hard on our nervous systems. The new horrors of the kidnapping of Thiago Avila and Saif Abu Keshek are yet another reminder of how that heaviness won’t go away, as long as Israel -…
How Did Jon Stewart Miss The Greatest Piece of Satire on His Show?
Here’s a reminder that choosing to interview someone who history – and, hopefully, the ICJ – will remember as a war criminal and a genocide enabler, like Annalena Baerbock, is very much not cool. Especially when you have a massive platform.
