Who do you listen to when the light at the end of the tunnel might not be there?
I’d say, listen to those who have made their whole lives about being that light.
As the US has started its accelerated descent into Fascism, including Trump’s recent announcement of his intentions to ethnically cleanse Gaza, things are looking extremely grim (although the implications of the announcement itself I am not rushing to analise just yet).
Naturally, to say that things are looking grim after fifteen months of genocide is a strange statement to make. Gaza has been destroyed – the official death toll was adjusted to over 61,000 – and Israel’s escalation of violence in the West Bank has been unprecedented.
So there is a very real fight, a struggle, ahead. For many of us, it is simply a continuation of what has never stopped: the different and diverse ways of resisting US imperialism, militarism, and neocolonialism. Trump will be (just) another – albeit extremely challenging and painful – era of that.
So what do we do?
As always, I invite you to listen to what informed voices of conscience have to say. Chris Hedges, a Pullitzer-winning journalist and war correspondent whose speech on Gaza I shared with you last year, says it in a straightforward manner. There is no fluff.
Yet at the very end, that straightforwardness is matched with a heartfelt reminder of why we must resist – even if we fail.
I say, Chris puts that reason in a way that shows he is a minister after all. There is a spiritual dimension to both his life’s work and to what he’s inviting us to do.
Please watch it and share it with the ones who need to see it.
As always: stay strong, check on others, and keep your heart open.

On The Global Sumud Flotilla, What The World with Israel in It Looks Like, And What It Does to Our Nervous Systems
To exist in the world where Israel, too, exists – to physically be and function in such a world – is hard on our nervous systems. The new horrors of the kidnapping of Thiago Avila and Saif Abu Keshek are yet another reminder of how that heaviness won’t go away, as long as Israel -…
How Did Jon Stewart Miss The Greatest Piece of Satire on His Show?
Here’s a reminder that choosing to interview someone who history – and, hopefully, the ICJ – will remember as a war criminal and a genocide enabler, like Annalena Baerbock, is very much not cool. Especially when you have a massive platform.
